Upper West Side CERT
PROJECT: Concept, production, editorial content, and admin | uwscert.org
The Upper West Side Community Emergency Response Team (UWS CERT) are trained and certified citizen volunteers organized to provide auxiliary support to the emergency response efforts of the New York Police and Fire Departments of Manhattan’s Upper West Side. As the deputy team chief of this dedicated crew, I wanted to give them a great tool for sharing information, educating the public, recruiting volunteers, and fostering team spirit. When I agreed to produce the Web site, no one expected to see the deep-dish resource we launched on January 1, 2010. Thanks to the back end development of Matthew Ell, my project partner, we were on time, on budget, and delighted with the results. The uwscert.org site, the @uwscert Twitter page, and the Facebook page launched by team member Lance Dashefsky gave us a marketing trifecta for 2010.
